Q. What is the best time of
year to visit parts of India? |
|
India is a vast country, with
a varying geography and climate. Thus, while there
is no real designated time to visit the regions in
India, your decisions can be based on your
preference, comfort level and on the destinations
within India that you are visiting. The general
outlook for travel for within India is as follows:
North : Delhi, Agra, Khajurao, Varanasi,
Lumbini, Rajasthan etc. -- Early October to mid
April.
Hilly areas (Kangra, Dharamshala, Kathmandu -
Nepal) -- March to mid December Ladhak, Zanskar,
Lahul & Spiti Valley - Mid June to October.
South : Kerala - Mid November to March.
Rejuvenation Season -- Mid May to August
Karnataka - Early October
to mid April
West : Goa /
Bombay - November to March
East :

Q. When should I book my
travel package? |

In most
cases, it is advisable to book your trip 60-90
days in advance. Almost all the hotels require
reservations about two months in advance, at least
during the peak season. |

I change the itinerary of a tour package ? |
|
Yes, you can.
Dreamland Tours gives you the flexibility to pick
and choose the time you want to spend in a
destination, as well as the activities during your
stay. Aside from the custom tour packages, you may

are the VISA & Passport requirements for traveling
to India? |

A valid Indian Visa is
required to travel to India, which can be obtained
at an Indian Embassy or Consulate prior to travel.

do I prepare myself if I am visiting India for the
first time? |
|

once you decide on your itinerary. Depending on
what regions you will be visiting and the time of
year, we will suggest what items you need,
including choice of clothing and other essentials.
Irrespective of what you bring, or forget to
bring, our staff in all the Indian cities are very

need to take any vaccinations or medical
precautions before traveling to India? |
|
Prior to
traveling to India or any foreign country, please
make sure you are up to date on all routine
immunizations. For most updated information on

very friendly and peaceful culture. The people

How do I pay for goods
and services in India? |

India’s
currency is the “rupee”. You can trade your home
currency in for rupees at any bank or authorized
money changer. At some locations within India, you
pay with your home currency. All major credit
cards, including VISA, Mastercard, & American

How common are banks and
ATM’s? |
|
|
|
You will find ATM’s and banks
in every corner of the larger cities and tourist
hot spots. It is advisable to check with your bank
or financial institution about their presence in
the regions in India. |

of travel insurance before visiting India? |
|
While
essential, purchasing travel or any other type of
insurance for your travel is based on personal

language of the area I am visiting? |

|

It is not
necessary as India has become very
tourist-friendly and English is commonly spoken
and understood, especially in the major cities and
tourist destinations. However, if you would feel
more comfortable learning a few
words/phrases, we
encourage you to do so. |

Can I rent cell phones in
India? |
|
Yes. Cheap
cell phones and pre-paid cards are widely
available throughout India. We have also partnered
up with several carriers who will provide you with
domestic and international cell phones to use
while you are in India. |

How safe is drinking
water in India? |
|
|
|
It is
advisable to drink bottled water when visiting
most foreign countries. You can find bottled water
to be widely available in India. |

What are the cancellation
policies? |
|
We understand
that there may be last minute changes in plans and
we avoid charging any cancellation fees for the
tour and our services. However, airlines and
hotels have their own cancellation policies and
may charge a cancellation fee based on your
situation. Hotels in India are usually booked
months in advance and most require a 30 day
advance notice of cancellation. |

How do I get around when
I am in India? |
|
|
|
We can
arrange for you to have your own private car and a
personal chauffeur at each destination within
India. For inter city or regional travel, we can
arrange flights on one of India’s several domestic
airlines. If you choose to travel by train, we can
also guide you and/or you can locate railroad maps
and
schedules
on the internet or at the railway stations in
India. For distances within India which take over
24 hours of traveling via rail generally need to
be booked at least 30 days in advance, due to the
heavy demand for tickets. |
